This year (2015) I, Leah, began a weight loss journey.  In January, I lost 5 pounds.  I began at 260 on January 8th, and on February 6th, I weighed 255.  Praise the Lord!

Update:  April 10, 2015--down to 240.5 lbs!

During the month of January, I was introduced to a couple of movies:  Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead; and Hungry for Change (Check at your local library to watch them for free).  These movies spoke to the core issue with my weight loss failures.  Nutrition.
So, in the spirit of Joe Cross (Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead, http://www.rebootwithjoe.com) I have begun a smoothie fast.
As of February 12, 2015, I'm on my 7th day and I am feeling great!  I'm down a pants size, and even the new pants are feeling lose.  I can get my wedding band on again after 4-5 years of not being able to get it past my second knuckle, and my belly no longer touches the steering wheel in my car!  Praise Yahuah!
Below you will find an example of one of my smoothies.  I hope this inspires you to get more nutrition into your diet and ditch the high calorie, low nutrition foods that have caused obesity for the past 75 years.
Yahuah (YHWH) bless you!

Yahua (YHWH) bless you!

I begin each smoothie with about 2 cups of Coconut Water and a full blender jar of kale greens. (left)

Green veggies form the base of this smoothie, as they are packed with very important phytonutrients.  When my kale is all blended and pulverized, it looks like this.  (right)

After the kale greens comes cucumbers and celery.  It's always best to buy these organic, but if you're like me, you haven't been eating your veggies!  So, these are inexpensive WalMart and Aldi finds.  I'm on a low budget, so I have to pick and choose what is going to be organic.

I hate avocados!  BUT, I can't taste them in my smoothies, so they get to come along for the ride and add some beneficial fat to my diet.  :)

After all this green stuff is in your smoothie, you have CHOICES to make!

For this smoothie, I chose berries.  Fresh strawberries, frozen blueberries and frozen red raspberries. (left)

When it's all blended up (sometimes this takes some extra cocnut water or coconut milk) it looks like this.  (right)

Ordinarily, I add my bananas immediately after the avocado, but I wanted to make sure there was enough liquid in my jar for those berries to be fully blended.

See how smooth it looks now with the bananas? (right)

Bananas, aside from being high in potassium, sweeten the smoothie, and give it a nice creamy texture...if you're into that sort of thing.  ;)

Adding Organic Flaxseed Oil is very important for balanced Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids.  Coconut oil could be substituted, or even Olive Oil.  Just be sure it's Organic.  Apple Cider Vinegar is super great for the digestive system. (left)

Chia Seeds form a gelatinous mass in your intestines that absorbs toxins and move them out of your body. (right)

Adding in Almonds or another nut, like Walnuts, gives some extra protein to your smoothie, should you choose to stay on a smoothie fast for an extended period of time. (left)

When it's all blended up to your liking, pour it into your container of choice.  My favorite is just a pint size mason jar. (right)

And here's the finished product. (left)
Mine is the one with the straw.  The one in the larger jar is for my husband who has joined me in a ten day smoothie fast.  He only needs to lose about 5 pounds, so he probably wont stay on the fast with me.

Aaaaaand a close up. (right) The purple flecks are from the blueberries, and the white flecks are bits of almonds.  I prefer to let them blend until nearly invisible, but I was in a hurry this day.  (A more powerful blender, like Ninja or Blendtec, would have had no problem with the time crunch)

Verdict=Delicious!
